Chick-Fil-A Salad Container Up-Cycle Challenge

Earlier this month, Chick-Fil-A sent me gift cards to try out their Frosted Coffee and Spicy Southwest Salad. I must say, they were both delicious! I'm not a big coffee lover but I gave the frosted coffee a shot and it was pretty good. There must be something about the coffee being cold that makes me able to drink it because I also like Chick-Fil-A's iced coffee.

The Southwest Salad was yummy! I love a good salad. But this salad came with a challenge. Well, the container did at least. As part of the Chick-Fil-A Mom's Panel, I was challenged to up-cycle the salad container in a #chickfilamomsDIY challenge. I was excited, but also nervous. The creative wheels haven't turned in a few months. I've been so busy that I just haven't had much time for any creativity. But my love of a good challenge came through and with the help of my younger two, and a whole lot of thought about what in the world we would make, we made a fairy garden.

For this project, I used two Chick-Fil-A salad containers, one Chick-Fil-A fruit cup container and various things we had around the house.

I knew I wanted the containers to kind of stack but fastening them together was the trick. It took some figuring out and playing with, but eventually I got it to work. I had a wooden drawer knob that was sort of mushroom shaped that I wanted to use, so I gave it two uses and screwed it through the two salad containers to stick them together. I also cut the corner of the top salad container so that the two containers wold flow together.

One container was spray painted with green spray pant. LOL. It was from a failed DIY.

Once they were connected, I filled both containers with soil and then placed the fruit cup container (also filled with soil) at the top. Now we were ready to decorate!

We gathered (ok the kids gathered) pebbles for the pebble path that lead to the fruit cup where we made a "flower swing". We made a little teepee and placed it off to the side and added a couple succulent leaves to add to greenery. The littles added a couple seashells, a rock and flower to make it feel like a home.

This was a fun little project! My kids and I really enjoyed spending the afternoon making this. Who knew these little containers could be so useful and fun?! I can't wait to come up with more ways to up-cycle my next Chick-Fil-A salad container! What fun things have you made from salad (or any!) containers?

Worldly Box April 2016 Review

So last month was my first Worldly Box and I absolutely loved it. If you aren't familiar with this company, let me explain. Worldly Box is a subscription box that starts at $14.99/month with super cute and unique jewelry from all over the world that is personally picked out just for you! You take a survey before your first box arrives that has many questions and helps the wonderful people at Worldly pick out pieces that they think you will love. Included in your box are 2 jewelry items and one bonus mystery item. You can check out my review of my March 2016 Worldly Box here.

Now lets get started on the review of the April box!

As usual they wrap up the box in their super cute chevron tissue paper. So cute!

When I opened the box, there was my card, addressed to me with the details of the items in my box. Now let me say something here about this. Have you ever left a comment on a social media page for a business and wondered if they ever saw it? Worldly Box sees your comments. They not only saw a comment I made on a super cute pair of hoops that I loved, they included them in my box people! THEY INCLUDED THEM! Woo-Hoo! The card reads "...Thank you for leaving us comments on our Instagram, it helped me pick your pieces this month! Your first piece is the pair of earrings you liked from our Instagram page!.." Seriously, these people are amazing.

These earrings were handcrafted in India and are made from recycled glass colored beads and brass/silver metal. As my five year old daughter Sloan would say, they are adorbs!

The earrings. I have such love for them lol.

Next is this also super cute beaded bracelet. It was handcrafted in Ghana and is so unique (in a good way). The beads look they are also made from recycled glass and each bead is hand painted.

The last item included in the box is a coin purse. It's made of wool felt and is from world of goods. The tag says that it was handcrafted by women artisans in Nepal. Inside the pouch was a tiny bag of gummy bears. My daughter really wants this pouch so I think I may give it to her, but the gummy bears are mine lol.

I don't know if I missed this last month, but this month I noticed that on my card, it says that a portion of my purchase was donated to provide meals to orphanages throughout Africa. How cool is that! These Worldly Boxes are making so many worldly differences. They are helping artisans from all over and orphanages. Just another reason to love them.

So there you have it. This box was awesome! I am so pleased again with Worldly Box and will be looking forward to my May box. If you are interested in trying out Worldly Box, click here.

Worldly Box March 2016 Review

*I'm a little late on posting this. But a little late is better than never! Btw, I received this box about 1 month ago. Sorry for the delay!

Last month as I was surfin the web looking for nothing in particular, I came across website called Worldly Box that instantly had me searching the internet looking for reviews. That's when I came across this review. Worldly Box is a jewelry monthly subscription service that sends you 2 pieces of handcrafted artisan jewelry and 1 extra item that isn't necessarily jewelry. Once you sign up, they send you a link to a survey that you fill out so they can get an idea of what kind of jewelry you like. Then, they hand pick items for you each month based on your answers. A JEWELRY PERSONAL SHOPPER, PEOPLE! Love this so much!

Instantly I was hooked. Such super cute stuff and for only $14.99 a month?! No freaking way.  I instantly signed up for the monthly service and also explored their shop where they offer a few select one of a kind pieces for sale. I purchased a necklace and will write another post about that. It's so pretty!

So yesterday, I was having a super awful day. I don't really have many bad days. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a horrible day. I'm actually pretty laid back and I don't worry much. But yesterday was different. NOTHING was going right. And to top it off, I was just about finished with my taxes when a glitch happened. And. Everything. Deleted.

I have to start over. After I hid in the corner and cried like I baby, I got up and moved onto something else. But the day just kept getting worse. Until I went to my mailbox. Inside was my very first Worldly subscription box! Woo-Hoo!! It had arrived an entire day early! I quickly ran back into the house and could hardly control myself to not rip into it without taking pictures first.

So lets get started on this review, shall we?!

Here is how the package arrives. Cute box with a colorful tissue paper band and a handwritten name tag with my name on it. Cute, right?!

When I opened the box, there were cards in there. One of the cards told about the jewelry that was hand selected for me, telling me who made the pieces and where they were made. Both of my pieces came from Venezuela.

The first piece I will show you are these earrings. I remember these earrings from the survey and I loved them! I was really excited that these were chosen for me! I love dangle earrings and I love shades of blue. These just looked very coastal and very me!

The second piece is this super cute blue knot root necklace. It's not really my style but I think it's pretty. It's lightweight and lays well. The length is perfect. I'm not sure if I will ever wear it but I'll hold on to it for now.

For the extra item, I was given a worry doll keychain. Could the timing be any more perfect on this one? lol. The enclosed card says that these little dolls were made and given to children so they could tell their fears to the doll. Then they place the doll under their pillow and the doll protects them from their fears and keep them from having nightmares.

I would rate this box 4 out of 5 stars. I'm happy with this box and I can't wait for future boxes to arrive. This little company was just started in January of this year. They are already having amazing growth and I see them only getting bigger and better!

Question marks. That is my title for this post.

Because I have absolutely no freaking idea what to write about. I started this blog a couple years ago thinking it would be something to do to keep me from going insane. Something in this world of mommy hood that I could call my own that didn't revolve around my kids or husband. Instead I ended up not being able to find anything to write about, going months and now almost a year without so much as one published post. Although I have many drafts written up of not so great things. And sometimes I had lots to write about but either worried it would bore the one reader I may or may not have or I just couldn't find the time to get the words out.

In other words, how on earth do some of these bloggers do it? How do you find something to write about multiple times a week? I've ready before that you should write about what you know and what you do and from there it will just flow.

Well, i juggle kids and housework and a husband who can't even bother to get up from the sofa to get his own drink. I mean seriously. Is it that hard to walk into the next room and pour your own drink?

I guess I could write about that lol. But I don't think it would be very interesting. And to anyone who read this, I apologize for wasting those 2 minutes that you will never get back. ;)

Another year older…another year closer to crazy

My birthday is this week. I'll be 30-something. And close to 40-something. It's ok though. I'm okay with getting older. Older means wiser, right? So I'm getting smarter. Smarter is good. I can live with that.

But I can't live with the weird things that are happening as I'm getting older. Is it a coincidence or am I just going down hill from here? Either way though, it sucks. I think I'll make a list.

Lists are good.

Magically in the last couple of weeks I've noticed a couple of break outs on my face. This isn't normal. What the heck is going on here? Even better? My husband just loves to point out the giant zit that popped up on my face. Thanks love. That makes me feel so much better. Maybe I should start buying bandaids and using those to cover the zits up? I could blame it on the cat and say she scratched me. Yeah that could work.

Guess I better get a cat.

Another thing that sucks about getting older, my nerves. Seriously. I'm turning into one of those old English ladies from the 1800's who are threatening to faint over everything. Here's an example. Earlier today I was sweeping in the kitchen and swept the broom along the underside of the fridge. What rolls out but a very large and dark red grape with part of the stem attached to it. It was the size of a small baby mouse. And. I. Almost. Wet. Myself. Right. There. I have 3 kids. I shouldn't jumpy over food not he floor. What the heck is happening to me?

Darn kids. Darn nerves.

I found what could possibly be (although I'm not totally sure that it wasn't just a really light brown) grey hair. I guess I should be lucky that this is a new thing. I know people that have been seeing grey since their late twenties. My husband is included in that. But the salt and pepper look is great on men. Very sexy. On me? Not so much. I seriously hope that it was just a super light brown hair.

I'm tired. I'm ready for bed when the kids are in bed at 7:45pm. Gone are the days of staying up late. I'm apparently snoring by 8:30. Oh and that's another thing. Snoring. The hubs says I snore. That's not possible. I don't snore. Men snore and I am not a man. If this really does happen, then lets call it nasal conversations instead of snoring. That could work. I like to rename things that are not appropriate with non offending names. For example, I hate the word fart. It just rubs me the wrong way. I prefer to call them panty whispers. See how that works? Doesn't sound so offending anymore, does it?

Anyway. Back to my list.

I'm more laid back about certain things. When things aren't rolling out from the fridge and my kids aren't jumping out from around the corner scaring the crap out of me, I've noticed that I'm more laid back. I don't seem to care as much about what others think about something that I do or say. Wait, this is a good thing. My list is taking a turn for the positive. Hmmm.

Well, I guess all the items on my list aren't so bad after all. So I get an occasional blemish, I'm jumpy as hell and I snore. Who cares? I guess when I start to stress I'll just need to remember what my mom told me. "When you get older, you just don't give a crap anymore what others think and you stop sweating the small stuff. There is no time for it." That could work.

Yeah, life is good. And I can't wait for my birthday later this week :)

Rose VoxBox from Influenster

Influenster is a super cool community that allows you to review products that you already use and let the world know what they think. And every now and then they put together a VoxBox.

A VoxBox is a super cool box with several items that Influenster sends to select active members for them to test out and review the products. Getting a email telling you that you're getting a VoxBox is like finding out you're getting a really cool present on your birthday. You can visit them on their Facebook page here (after you read my blog of course :) and see for yourself how everyone loves Influenster.

It's very exciting.

Recently I was sent a Rose VoxBox from Influenster to test, review and spread the word about. I must say I was not disappointed in any of the items that were sent. I love them all. So let's start talking about them, shall we?

When your VoxBox arrives, it's always boxed nicely with the Influenster logo and cute design.

Opening the box is always super exciting. You have no idea what you are getting to test. As you can see from the items this is a great box! Now two items are missing from this picture. Item number one is Vitabath hydrating lotion. This item was sent to random Influensters and I wasn't one of them. The other items missing from the picture is something I did get but wasn't able to post a picture of. But I'll post one below from the company's website. It was a belVita crunchy breakfast biscuit. My kids snatched it up without me realizing it until after I already took the pictures and noticed it was missing. By then it was too late. But the good news is they loved this healthy little on the go breakfast!

In your VoxBox you get a postcard describing each item and how much each item runs. (Sorry for the blurry upper left. My camera skills need work :/ )

The first item that I reached for was the Dr. Schools for Her Cozy Cushions for boots. That's right--boots!! Hello!! As with all Dr. Scholls, you cut them to fit your shoes. And these being furry did not make it difficult at all. They cut just fine. These insoles are so soft, furry and comfortable. I tried them out immediately in my most favorite and most often worn boots and they went in just fine. But they weren't comfortable when I slipped my feet in. Way too tight. They were dressier high heeled boots with a slender foot. But I do also have some wider casual boots that while comfortable, they aren't warm and cozy and they are slightly too big somehow (I swear my feet are shrinking). I put the Dr. Scholls Cozy Cushions in those boots (3 different pairs) and they all were comfortable to wear and made my boots fit better. Score! If you're worried about your feet getting to hot and sweating (I know, I know, gross right?) you shouldn't worry. These magic furry clouds of wonderfulness help keep feet dry and absorb perspiration. Incase you are wondering, these baby's run about $12.49.
Next up is a Lindt Lindor milk chocolate truffle sample that also had a nice coupon inside. These truffles are so smooth and rich that you just don't want to share! There is a yummy candy shell on the outside and a smooth melt in your mouth filling on the inside. Delicious fine chocolate that melts in your mouth. Need I say more? These run at about $3.99 for a 5.1oz bag and come in 10 different yummy flavors.

Here we have Graduation Polishes by Kiss. This was very interesting. It's a 3 step process to give your nails an almost ombre look. You start with a clear glittery coat that you pain the entire nail with. Then you take step two which has a darker and glittery coat and cover 2/3rds of your nail. And then for step 3 you take the last bottle which has larger glittery flakes and you paint 1/3rd of your nail. I haven't quite mastered this one yet, but when I do, I will be posting (with detailed pictures) how it's done. But it's very cool so far and even my 3 year old is asking me to paint her nails with it lol. If you want to purchase your own set then you can find these at Walgreens and they run about $6.99.

This couldn't have arrived at a better time. It was time to replace my mascara and I was delaying. I almost hate shopping for mascara. I can't stand the clumps that some brands will give you. And there is nothing more frustrating then having your mascara mess up so bad thanks to clumps and smearing (every had a clump land IN your eye?) that you have to take off your make up and start over again. UGH. I admit I was nervous when I saw my new Rimmel scadaleyes retro glam mascara. But, that of course did not stop me from trying it (I love to try new things!). I'm certainly glad I gave it a chance because I love it! Seriously! The wand is super fat which I was nervous about but it was easy to use and it gave my eye lashes a long lash look that I love. clumps. Happy dance! $6.99 and should be available at your local drug store.

And last but not least is the belVita crunchy Breakfast biscuit. These are sold in 5 packs to a box and each pack has 4 biscuits in them. What you are seeing the picture is half a biscuit. They are a good size. These are tasty and crunchy and really are great for on the go. If you're not on the go and can sit at home and enjoy them, these are great with toppings as well. Add some peanut butter and top with a fruit such as banana or apple slices. Very tasty! These are packed with fiber and B-vitamins and contain no high fructose corn syrup if you're worried about that sort of stuff. But each serving has 18-20 grams of whole grain. These run about $3.69 per box and should be available at your local grocery store.

There you have it! I love all the items that came in this box and if you decide to try any of them, let me know how you liked them!

If you are interested in becoming an Influenster then you can sign up here. Influenster is a free community to join.

*Disclaimer-I was sent these items from Influenster in exchange for my thoughts and opinions. My thoughts and opinions are just that--mine. I tested out the products and wrote what I personally felt. Thank you.
